Cybersecurity and SMEs: the situation in Italy and worldwide
Considering the data provided by the '2022 Report on ICT Security in Italy by Clusit', we can understand how real and growing the threat of cyber attacks is in our country.
The analysis shows that the sectors with the largest increase in attacks compared to the previous period are Manufacturing (+34%), Healthcare (+2.2%), ICT (+11.5%) and Financial/Insurance (+76.7%).
The most exploited cyber attack to hit companies has been malware, a special type of software that can infiltrate computers, mobile phones and company networks without our knowledge in order to steal sensitive information (personal data, confidential information, etc.).
But Phishing (+63.8%), Identity and Account Theft (+12.9%) and DDos attacks (+308.3%) also increased significantly compared to the past.
To make the cybersecurity topic even more global, the factor of the war in Ukraine has been added: 90% of the cyber-operations made to countries in the NATO area come from Russian actors, according to the latest data collected by Microsoft and published in the Digital Defence Report 2022.
